Hilsa fish with green leaves.

Hilsa fish with kachu leaves is a delicious and nutritious Bengali dish.  It is easy to make but tastes amazing.  Below is the recipe:

 Materials

 Hilsa fish: 5-6 pieces

 Turmeric: 5-6

 Onion paste: 2 tbsp

 Garlic paste: 1 tsp

 Chillies: 4-5 (sliced)

 Turmeric powder: 1 tsp

 Salt: To taste

 Mustard oil: 2-3 tbsp

 Water: Half a cup

 the method

 1. First wash the green leaves well and cut them thinly.

 2. Rub the hilsa fish pieces with salt and a little turmeric.

 3. Heat mustard oil in a pan and lightly fry the hilsa fish pieces.  No need to deep fry, remove when light golden.

 4. In the same pan add a little more oil (if required) and fry the onion paste, garlic paste and green chillies for a while, till the raw smell goes away.

 5. Now grind the spices well with chopped green leaves, turmeric powder, and salt.

 6. Once grated, cover it with half a cup of water and cook till the leaves become soft.

 7. When the leaves are soft, add the fried hilsa fish pieces and cover.  Cook the fish and green leaves together for another 5-7 minutes, so that the spices are absorbed into the fish.

 8. Once the broth thickens, strain and serve.
